Originally from Indiana, Harris travelled further west to join the Exyte team in Boise in early 2023 as an Architectural Designer. It’s a decision that has opened new opportunities to pave his future career. “There were a few things that drew me to Exyte initially,” Harris begins.“ The complexity and state of the art projects were unlike anything I had previously designed, I knew it would be a great opportunity.” In his role Harris’ work is spread across a large-scale semiconductor project, in which he specializes in the design, architectural planning, and implementation. “This is a great opportunity to expand on my skillset and also learn more about the industry, the client, and how advanced technology facilities and engineering intersect with architecture.” As a people person and fresh into his career, Harris also gravitated towards Exyte because of its diversity, and the option to work with people across the globe, “There is so much culture. I’m working with people based in Asia, Europe, and across the US. I work with great people from a diverse background.”

Day-to-day Harris uses his skillset to design spaces, both conceptually and adding final touches to construction documents. But it’s a job that also comes with collaboration, communication, and alignment across other stakeholders such as construction managers, engineers, and the client. Harris explains it’s the opportunity to work on buildings that will shape the future that motivates him. “I think the opportunity to work on a project that shapes society and civilization as we know it is really rewarding. The advancement in devices and technology is happening at an incredible rate. When I think about how much change we’ve seen in 20 years it blows my mind to imagine what changes I will see over the course of my career, that I can also help contribute to. That’s pretty amazing.” 

Harris is keen to bring his knowledge and passion for new technology and use it to implement concepts and ideas. He says one key thing that makes Exyte stand out as an employer are the mentors, and the team spirit amongst his colleagues, “I have very supporting coworkers, so my managers and colleagues are very helpful, and help me to learn on the job every day. I never feel like I am held back, it’s a positive place to work and somewhere where I feel I’m getting the opportunity to grow.”
