DSP SAS Groupe DuPont - Capacity Increase
Project: Capacity increase and ergonomics and process efficiency improvement
Location: Chauny, France
Customer: DSP SAS, Groupe DuPont
Duration: 2019 – 2021
Project Overview
DSP SAS produces ionic exchange resin (IER) at its Chauny site, with part of this production used in the pharmaceutical industry as an API or excipient. The purpose of the project was to increase production capacity by adding a second dryer (fluid bed technology) and improving ergonomic aspects and process efficiency, including loading, cleaning, and transfer.
Project Approach
The project was initiated in 2019 with a basic design consolidating a preliminary study by DSP, as well as support for pre-selection of fluid bed dryer suppliers, including drying trials at suppliers’ manufacturing sites.
Detailed design and design qualification were conducted in 2020 in parallel with fluid bed dryer design and fabrication. Building extension construction began in July 2020 and was completed by the end of the year. Process installation and commissioning were executed in Q1 2021, and process qualification (IQOQ) was completed by April 2021.
*This work was completed by Pharmaplan, now part of Exyte.
