An expert in creating a better future
Originally a process engineer himself, Joel Das now manages other process engineering experts.
Joel Das is an expert in his field - a seasoned process engineer who has spent over a decade designing and building facilities to manufacture pharmaceuticals and biotech products. In his pursuit of knowledge, Das has become a Subject Matter Expert (SME), having gained expertise in designing various manufacturing facilities, including aseptic fill finish, bulk biologics, oral solid dosage, and active pharmaceutical ingredients.
Over the years, Das has gained invaluable experience as a manager, having led teams of process engineers in design projects. Today, he manages SMEs at Exyte in the USA. In his role Das is responsible for staffing the right people for a given project based on their experience, technical ability, and availability. The SMEs that he manages include engineers of many different specialties, ranging from mechanical and sustainability to automation and architectural assembly experts. Das is proud to oversee the smooth working of cross-functional teams.
Exyte is like a giant start up: Innovative, forward thinking, and fast
Hiring SMEs who can add value to the company is also important for Das. "My role is to grow Exyte. So, I'm hiring SMEs that can grow our capabilities," he says.
"Exyte still almost feels like a start-up, because it’s dynamic and innovative. But at the same time, we have the powerful resources of a multinational corporate,” Das laughs. He explains this concept is exciting for many experts whom he wants to inspire to join the company. There are endless opportunities for motivated and passionate people, plus the opportunity to work for a company that brings technology to life.
His plans for the future? To grow Exyte in the USA and continue to make use of the company’s expertise. "We must catch the wave," says Das. "It's mutually dependent: the more experts we gain, the more projects Exyte will be able to carry out. And that way we can make more and more of our engineers subject matter experts."
