Exyte embraces the safety, health and well-being of its employees

On the occasion of today’s World Day of Safety and Health at Work, Exyte, the global leader in design, engineering and construction of high-tech facilities, plants and factories, reinforces its commitment to creating a safe working environment for its approximately 5,600 people worldwide.

Exyte embraces safety as one of its core values and commits to an incident-free and injury-free workplace, which protects the safety, health and wellbeing of its employees at all times. The World Day for Safety and Health at Work is an opportunity to further raise the awareness for workplace safety and health issues.

Exceptional safety performance is an organizational commitment, which ensures that all our employees, contractors and stakeholders go home safe. That is why we are fully committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment to all our employees.

Roberto Penno, Chief Operating Officer of Exyte, added: “We should always be looking for opportunities to improve our safety culture and have the conviction to speak out loud when we consider situations or behavior unsafe or detrimental to the safety of our workforce.”

Wolfgang Homey, Chief Financial Officer of Exyte, continues: “I believe that an excellent safety culture is important for every organization. The major pillars for the concept of organizational safety are strategy, leadership, employee engagement and culture. Exyte has transitioned from managing safety through tasks and checklists to embracing safety as a cultural imperative. Processes and procedures are important, but they cannot guarantee an Incident Free Workplace by themselves. They have to be galvanized by involving employees mentally and emotionally.”

The Incident Free Workplace as a unique characteristic

Respect for people means to care for them and to protect the environment in which they live and work. Therefore, Exyte creates an environment, in which every individual is respected and treated with dignity and care. That is the foundation of the Incident Free Workplace (IFW) initiative embarked in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2018, the program resulted in a TRIR (total recordable incident rate, calculation: recordable incidents x 200.000 / total work hours) of 0.32, which is equal to a 10 per cent improvement to the previous year.

“Safety is an integral part of our culture. Nothing is more important for us than our employees: We spend time training them, mentoring them and encouraging them to bring added value to our organization. Therefore, we remain committed to protecting their safety and health by providing an Incident Free Workplace,” explains Jonathan Eades, VP Corporate Safety Health Environment and Quality at Exyte.

Create ownership to deliver the best possible performance in safety

Exyte is always looking for opportunities to improve its safety culture. An important factor thereby is that all employees have the conviction and courage to speak out when situations are considered unsafe or detrimental to the safety of our workforce. Exyte honors exceptional safety performance and best practices of its teams and employees with regular Safety Awards.

Exyte developed new systems and standards for safety, health, environment and quality to ensure that the whole organization is aligned. The objectives are measured in the “target zero and beyond” goal and noted in the corporate quality policy statement, which can be found on the website https://www.exyte.net/safety
